HISTORY WOULD REMEMBER

HISTORY WOULD REMEMBER

The 2020 pandemic has become a part of our life, all of us have got used to the ‘new normal’. When the pandemic started, I attempted to write a ballad and here an other experiment.

[A ballad is a poem that tells a story or a tale, usually (but not always) in four-line stanzas called quatrains. Nearly every culture on Earth produces ballads, often in the form of epic poems relating to the culture’s mythology.]

HISTORY WOULD REMEMBER

History would remember

when time paused,

people stopped...

And everything laid as it was!

As the flowers bloomed,

the planet healed…

the rest were

packed and sealed.

Humans were in, and

the wilds were out!

The world seemed parallel

With no cries and shouts!

The engines were off-

and the doctors were on;

A tiny-little virus was

On set of a dark dawn.

People started washing hands

and covering mouths.

No vaccines, no medicines;

Everywhere there were only lockdowns!

The same man who

once ran behind money

was running for his life, as it did

no more seems funny!

The world looked up to doctors:

they clapped and danced for them!

sang their glory...

as if they were the only Gem.

The worrier doctors were

ready to face the fire.

They had no betray in their

in heart, neither any fear.

Some say it’s was a war

some claim it a healing cause

which affected everyone

near and far…

History would remember

when time paused,

people stopped...

And everything laid as it was!

(PS: I have mentioned ‘no vaccine, no medicine’ in the ballad it is only because this was written in the beginning of the pandemic. All thanks to the front-line workers who have come up with vaccine. Also get your doses at your nearest vaccination center and do your part)

  1. Thank you for sharing this beautiful ballad that captures the essence of the pandemic. It's true that this crisis has caused us to pause and reflect on our lives and the world around us. We have seen the healing power of nature and the selflessness of our front-line workers who risk their lives to keep us safe. While the pandemic has been a challenging time for all of us, it has also brought out the best in humanity. Let's continue to support each other and do our part to overcome this crisis. Thank you for reminding us to get vaccinated and stay safe.
